Why the name  “Utu” , “ Utu ” is Swahili for humanity and compassion...  Utu is about togetherness, same as the ubuntu and harambee philosophies. We live in a world full of inequality and injustices, often we feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to bridge the gap especially on a personal level. A lot needs to be done, we can’t do it all at once but the little we do can often help someone else by a long stretch. Today I come to you with an appeal, I would love to make a difference in some women’s lives by providing them something that will help them not only have some dignity but also empower them. Empower them because they will not have to miss out on important things or events like school; Empower them because they will no longer need to live in shame over something that is out of their control.
